Psychic Senses - The Clairs
Here is a brief explanation of some of the abilities you may encounter as you progress with your Psychic Development.
The Different ‘Clairs’
- Clairvoyance (clear seeing): This is when you have visions, see images, still or moving on the inner screen of your mind. Your eyes may be open or closed.
This also includes; seeing auras, Angels, apparitions, etc.
Clairvoyance is when you can see beyond the physical. The psychic reception area for this sense is located in the centre of the forehead. (The third eye)
- Clairaudience (Clear hearing): Hearing voices, music and other sounds that do not have a physical source.
Clairaudience includes hearing voices of those on the other side.
You can also hear sounds of the past, as in old buildings with paranormal activity.
The psychic reception area for the sense of Clairaudience is located either side of the head, just above the ears.
- Clairsentience (clear feeling): This is when you ‘feel’ things about people or situations that you could not know otherwise.
People with the ability of Clairsentience often refer to it as their ‘gut instinct’. These people are very sensitive to energies and emotions of other people and negative
energies can often cause a sickening feeling in the stomach.
The psychic reception area for Clairsentience is located in the solar plexus.
- Clairalience (clear smelling): This is when you can smell things that have no physical source.
This is common when you may have a deceased loved one with you. You may smell their perfume, tobacco smoke, etc.
- Claircognizance (clear knowing): Having knowledge of certain places, people or situations without having the information to know. This can be premonitions. (this can sometimes be related to Dreams - see below)
The psychic reception area for Claircognizance is located on the top of the head ( crown chakra)
- Clairhambience (clear tasting): This is where you can taste things without having eaten it.
And don’t forget, when you experiences these sensations Trust Yourself!
Don’t get impatient when you first start working with these senses, as practice makes perfect!
The important thing to remember is; Don’t dismiss anything you receive with these abilities. Sometimes our imaginations will take over, that’s ok. Be aware of it and as you progress, you will learn to control this.

It is very common to receive psychic information through our dreams. But remember that they can be rather symbolic and it is for you to work out for yourself, so be sure to make notes of your dreams (and include notes on the sense you experienced whilst dreaming)
